the love of my life

After spending close to two weeks with the love of my life, I'm heartened to say that l'amour remains just as strong as when it all started 14 years ago. The gloomy weather, incessant rain, terribly polluted air and moody underground network notwithstanding, what the city offers is a vibrant diversity of cultures and influences that is so exciting to be a part of.

(Of course the city also offers M&S, Portobello, Camden and Boots, which are like my favourite aunty store, flea markets and drugstore in the whole world.)

This trip was one for the museums and exhibitions. A final count shows 9 done, in order of preference below.
1. British Museum
2. National Portrait Gallery
3. Kensington Palace (for Enchanted Palace)
4. Museum of Brands, Packaging & Advertising
5. Queen's Gallery (for the Victoria & Albert exhibition)
6. V&A
7. Tate Modern
8. Chertsey Museum
9. National Gallery

There are a few I didn't manage to do, Geffrye Museum, Wallace Collection, Bankside Gallery, Fashion & Textile Museum, Wellcome Collection, Tate Britain, Hayward which was closed for renovations. Will strive harder next time.

Also managed to feed myself pretty well this time round, both economically and expensively. Pardon me as I record this for the next time round, a requisite since my memory is failing.
1. The Stockpot (reasonable prices for Soho)
2. Mother Mash (marvellous bangers and mash in the Carnaby area)
3. Tate Cafe (lovely place to chill)
4. Fernandez & Wells (such heavenly coffee, I must try the food & wine bar next time)
5. Fish!
6. La Trompette (it's deserving of the michelin star, but somehow I was still a little disappointed)
7. Portobello Fish Bar
8. Square Pie

All in all, a lovely time spent. You know it's love when you reach home and immediately starts thinking about possible dates for the next trip.
;)p

lost and found

Was throwing away some old towels (literally throwing as in messy floored) when there was a thud. Surprised that the towels can make such a sound, I took a closer look and what do you know? There it was, the ring I thought was lost on new year's day last year.

A great Valentine's Day present it turned out to be, much better than some of the things I have received I must say.

You are The Wheel of Fortune

Good fortune and happiness but sometimes a species of
intoxication with success

The Wheel of Fortune is all about big things, luck, change, fortune. Almost always good fortune. You are lucky in all things that you do and happy with the things that come to you. Be careful that success does not go to your head however. Sometimes luck can change.

sunday blues

Why am I working on a Sunday afternoon?
:(

random story

Boy: You deleted me from your facebook account.
Girl: Yeah. It was like a fluke addition so I thought it's better to maintain the original status quo.
Boy:....
Girl: You created your account after me and it never crossed your mind to add me as a friend. If not for my accidental addition, we'd probably still be cyber strangers.
Boy: Ok. Whatever.
Girl: Yeah whatever.
Boy: It's obvious you want to cut me out of your life, so whatever.
Girl: Yeah well. Gotta go, goodbye.

Obviously the boy thinks the girl is throwing another one of her ridiculous tantrums. He didn't know she had not lost her infamous temper for a long time now.
And what he definitely didn't know was that she meant that last statement.

Flashback
Boy: I never say goodbye, because goodbye is forever.

She knows. That was why she said goodbye.

making the fashion rounds

And so with the end of a torturous 12-hour flight with a stuffy nose, I have done the rounds of the fashion capitals.

New York (1994) - London (1996/1998/2000/2003) - Paris (2000/2003) - Milan (2008)

It was such a fluke since the meetings that brought me to Italy were totally unscheduled. So it took 14 years to complete the round, but better late than never.

And yes, I returned with a Prada bag. Heh.

that pot of gold

On Friday morning before the work day started, I saw a rainbow hanging over my head.
It made my day.
Yet all I could think about was the pot of gold at the end of it....

private blog

Is a private blog an oxymoron?
Anyway.
Just realised that I have, once again, become searchable on the world wide web.
Aargh.....
Looks like it's time for yet another migration.
Bah humbug.
Then maybe I will start ranting again.
Yah as if.

I wish I have more time coupled with the patience to blog.
It's been mad at work recently and I don't see the situation improving any time soon.

I'm so looking forward to some time off.
