good mileage

Now that petrol prices are freaking crazy, everyone wants to know how to get more mileage out of every dollar that is pumped into the car.
This is quite useful.

Yesterday The Sunday Straitsjacket Times did a feature on good mileage too.
There was a column on what you should or shouldn't do.
And off-hand, I can remember this:

Do not drive with your windows down. The drag effect causes more fuel consumption.

Do not drive with your air-conditioning on. It is a real fuel guzzler.

Do both at the same time in Singapore?
Are you out of your freaking mind!!!???
The cars would all be driven by half-mad barbequed people.
It must be the stupidest advice I have ever read in a national newspaper.
